Important Registration Information

The South Carolina State Association of Fire Chiefs is excited to offer the Battalion Academy again this year at the 77th Fire Leadership SC, October 6th-9th, 2021 at the Double Tree in Myrtle Beach, SC.

Your registration fee will cover all 3 days of training sessions, one ticket for Thursday lunch, one ticket for the Luau on Thursday evening, one ticket for Friday lunch with vendors, one ticket for Friday Carnival Night & Dinner with the vendors, one ticket  for Saturday lunch, and one ticket for Saturday Evening Installation Banquet.

Guest / Spouse will be an additional fee, which will include their meal tickets. 

There are two separate registration options below. One is for credit card payment and the other is for paying with a check.

Conference registration does not include any guest. Guest(s) registration is an additional fee and can be found on the form as well.

David Laird is a 35-year veteran of the Fire Service and currently serves as a Battalion Chief with the Columbia Fire Department.  David is a graduate of Clemson University with a Bachelor’s Degree in Industrial Management.  He is an Adjunct Instructor with the South Carolina Fire Academy, a Lead Instructor for the Columbia Fire Department Promotional Academies, an Adjunct Instructor for CFD Recruit School, and has taught at other conferences throughout the southeast, to include a Disaster Response Exercise in Miami, Fla. and MAFFC.  He has previously served on the South Carolina Fire Academy Advisory Committee and the South Carolina State Firefighters Association Training and Education Committee.  David is married and has 2 sons.



Division Chief Scott Jacobs  - a native of Richland County - has 33 years of service to the Columbia Fire Department. He currently serves as the 3rd Shift Division Chief. Chief Jacobs is very honored and proud that his two sons both serve as Firefighters in the Department as well. His wife of 31 years is his greatest encouragement and best friend. Woodworking and serving in his church is what he enjoys in his free time.
